Advanced Telecommunications Inc., a Minneapolis-based telephone company, changed its name to Eschelon Telecom last week in hopes of solidifying its ambitious regional rollout plans under one brand name.
Eschelon, one of about eight companies competing in the Twin Cities local telephone market with U S West, plans to expand to 10 other cities this year, and 14 more in 2001. By the end of this year, Eschelon expect to grow to 800 employees, compared with 594 today (including 300 in Minneapolis.)
