1/3 One of the handier ingredients in dessertmaking is sweetened condensed milk, a thick, hugely sweet product that is as close to honey or thick syrup as it is to milk.
Until fairly recently, sweetened condensed milk was available only from Borden, which sells it as Eagle Brand. These days, Carnation makes sweetened condensed milk, too, and it also appears under house brands in some supermarkets. Eagle Brand now comes in chocolate and reduced-fat versions, too.
