1/3 Long after adolescence, many of us retain memories of a particularly unpleasant rite of passage - acne - and thank our lucky stars that forever after we might take a reasonably clear complexion for granted. But although the patients treated for acne by Dr. Mary Stone are indeed largely teenagers, a surprising number of the pimple-plagued people that this University of Iowa dermatologist sees are well beyond the years twixt 12 and 20. Instead, they're in their 20s, 30s, 40s and even 50s.

And they all have one question, according to Stone. "Shouldn't I have outgrown pimples by now?"
