1/3 A month ago the city of Minneapolis planned to find an artist to help design a new 3rd Avenue bridge over Interstate Hwy. 94. The designer was announced Tuesday - and it's Frank Lloyd Wright.
Yes, America's most famous architect died in 1959, but a bridge he designed around 1937 will be the inspiration for an updated design by the Taliesin Architects, which has continued Wright's work, said officials of the Dayton Hudson Corp. The company will contribute $750,000 for the bridge design, making the first major private donation to the city's effort to reinvent 3rd Avenue S. as the "Avenue of the Arts."
