1/3 Although "Runaway Bride" was made by the trio behind "Pretty Woman" - Richard Gere, Julia Roberts and director Garry Marshall - it's not "Pretty Woman 2." This is a new story with new characters.
That said, it has the same effect: "Runaway Bride" charms the dickens out of the viewer. Granted, it's schmaltzy and predictable, but that's part of the definition of a romantic comedy. For Roberts' fans, it could start some nasty arguments over which is her better movie of the summer: this or "Notting Hill." It's a tough call.
One thing has been altered on the "Pretty Woman" team. That 1990 hit starred Gere and Roberts; this movie stars Roberts ...
