1/3 The man charged with killing a college student in a downtown Minneapolis parking ramp last month surrendered to police Tuesday afternoon so he could have his day in court, his attorney said.
Shawn T. Ortler, 26, of Minneapolis, allegedly stabbed 21-year-old Andrew Grose during a confrontation July 30 in the parking ramp at 910 LaSalle Av. S.
Grose, who grew up in Waterville in southern Minnesota, was going to be a senior at Northwestern College in Roseville.
Ortler's attorney, Howard Bass, said Ortler was defending himself during the incident.
"Any homicide that occurred in this case was unintended and occurred in Mr. Ortler's necessary self-defense," ...
