1/3 Solomon E. Shannon got a second chance at life Thursday, when he was sentenced in Hennepin County District Court.
He had been convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting of Eric Davis, 19, on Aug. 24, 1995. But that conviction was overturned by the Minnesota Supreme Court, and a plea agreement was reached on first-degree manslaughter Monday, allowing Shannon, 23, to be released from prison in about a week.
His mother and Davis' sister expressed their belief that he will become a different man, a man of God.
