1/3 As most spouses know, snoring rarely bothers the snorers. They sleep on blithely while the spouse - most often the wife - repeatedly wakes to nudge, poke, or shove his or her partner into a more silent position.
Quite often they simply sleep someplace else.
In one of the first studies of its kind, Mayo Clinic researchers have looked at precisely how a snoring spouse disturbs the sleep of his or her partner. They conclude, not surprisingly, that it does. But more important, researchers said, the consequences literally can drive couples, and even families, apart - if only to get a good night's sleep.
