1/3 And now for something completely different: One week after holding Wisconsin tailback Ron Dayne to mere-mortal rushing yardage (80), the Gophers defense finds out if it can pass muster against a high-quality passer.
Minnesota plays at Illinois on Saturday and faces sophomore quarterback Kurt Kittner. Kittner is second only to Purdue's Drew Brees in Big Ten Conference passing, averaging 239 yards per game and completing 57.2 percent of his passes. The Gophers lead the Big Ten in pass defense (126.4) and are second in the nation in scoring defense, allowing an average of 9.6 points per game.
