1/3 When the mayor of Mankato favored negotiating with a railroad seeking to run more trains through the city, some people living near the proposed line balked. But the mayor was also their neighbor, so it seemed he would share their concerns about noise and safety.
The city signed a $25 million deal with the railroad.
And Mayor Stan Christ put his house up for sale.
At first, a story circulated that he was moving to West Mankato. Neighbors accused him of hypocrisy and confronted him at a stormy public meeting a month ago.
