1/3 Brimming with confidence, the Minnesota Wild and city officials in Burnsville said Thursday that they, too, would open a 19,500-person-capacity outdoor amphitheater by mid-2001 and that there was room in the Twin Cities area for two to survive.
The announcement did little to ease the confusion over who would do what in the high-stakes race to build the area's first such amphitheater. Until now, the Minnesota Orchestra had been thought to have a head start with its planned facility in Brooklyn Park. Two other proposals are being reviewed in Scott County.
