Cook County entered the Class 1A state championship football game giving up an average of less than seven points per game - a number often rendered meaningless because the Vikings score more than 50 points per game.
But against Le Center, the first number proved to be the most important. Cook County (13-0) survived five turnovers and won its third consecutive Class A championship, 14-6 over the Wildcats on Friday at the Metrodome.
