Haskins has worked wonders over and over for the Gophers.(SPORTS)

The Gophers have drawn a difficult opener today for Clem Haskins' 13th Big Ten season. The Minnesota men are at Purdue, the conference's co-favorite with Michigan State.

The Gophers won at Purdue in 1972 and 1973. The first of those victories came in the conference finale and helped produce an outright Big Ten championship for coach Bill Musselman in his first season.

Since that two-year winning streak, the Gophers have two victories in 25 games at Purdue. Those victories signaled the Gophers' only conference championships in the past quarter century - for Jim Dutcher in 1982 and for Haskins in 1997.
