A coalition of mental health advocates, human rights organizations and judicial reformers called Wednesday for passage of legislation to improve mental health services for children involved with the criminal justice system.
The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Paul Wellstone, D-Minn., comes after a series of disturbing reports by human rights organizations and news organizations about the treatment of young people in correctional facilities.
