Q - My beagle has been having seizures for a year. He usually has a seizure for about a minute and naps after the seizure ends. He recently had one that lasted five minutes. Now he is listless and scared of everything. He is on phenobarbital. How does this medication work and what are the side effects? What can I do when he has a seizure?
A - Seizures can result from head trauma, brain tumors or epilepsy, an illness associated with abnormal activity in the brain.
