1/3 It would have been easy to tear down the little Egyptian building on Marquette Avenue S. in downtown Minneapolis to make way for a parking ramp next to the Rand Tower. But when the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission asked the ramp's developer, Rick Morphew, to save the entire facade, he agreed.
"I had no idea what I was in for," said Morphew, a partner in the Spectrum Group. But he's proud as punch of the conservation effort, despite its extra trouble and cost.
