1/3 Golden Valley officials are relaxing restrictions on licensing massage businesses in the city.
The City Council last week approved revisions to a 20-year-old ordinance that had been intended to prevent use of massage businesses as fronts for prostitution. The revised policy becomes legal Friday, after it is published in the Sun-Post today.
There are more than 130 massage businesses in the Twin Cities area, but none in Golden Valley. The city has not granted a massage license since the restrictions were established, said Dean Mooney, director of public safety. The only massage therapists in the city must operate under chiropractic licenses.
