THIS weekend 60 years ago British troops were beaten back by Hitler's troops to the beaches of Northern France. The ensuing mass evacuation from Dunkirk became an enduring symbol of triumph over adversity. We lost the battle but won the war, inspired by the heroics of the soldier fighting on the beaches and the armada of civilians who set sail to help in the rescue.
