On January 14, 1741, in the little village of Norwich, Connecticut, a dark-haired baby boy was born. "I'm going to name him Benedict, after the young son we lost," his father, Benedict Arnold, said.
The Arnolds had a comfortable home. Young Benedict and his one living sister, Hannah, seemed destined to inherit the wealth and position that the Arnold family had attained. Benedict's early childhood was happy enough.
