Internet telephony will soon reduce the cost of long-distance calls to nothing
Everyone has seen comedian Paul ad for AT&T, which mocks those oldsters that still wait until evening before calling long-distance. It wasn't that long ago, a decade really, that an hour-long call during business hours to someone across the country could set you back $50 or more. Deregulation has slashed long-distance rates at all hours, but now a new player on the scene, Internet telephony (IT), promises to make long-distance calling free. That's right, free.
