To make flea marketing somewhat less of a challenge, we asked the experts for tips on how to shop. Here's what they told us:
- Shop early and often
"Flea marketing is a crack-of-dawn thing," said American Island's Hanson. "If you're not there first and see the stuff fresh, you might as well stay in bed and shop retail."
Some markets open as early as 5 a.m., and serious shoppers have been known to show up before daybreak to get the corner on the market by shopping via flashlight.
