Although Robert G. Jasper held many Shakopee civic positions and helped found the Scott County Association for Retarded Children in 1963, time spent with his family at his cabin and during the holidays was always most important.
"He was the best father you could ever have," said Karen Von Bokern, the oldest of Jasper's seven children. "He was the kind of father who made each one of us feel like his favorite."
Jasper, who received the Shakopee Distinguished Service Award in 1973 for city involvement, died Tuesday of natural causes at the Auburn West Nursing Home in Waconia. He was 83.
