Apple Computer's iMac is its most successful machine in years, capping the company's retreat from the brink of bankruptcy with something it hasn't enjoyed in a long time: popular acclaim.
But despite the iMac's popularity with the Apple Macintosh faithful, some analysts believe that it won't be a significant factor in the personal computer market.
That said, the $1,299 iMac is the computer of the moment. iMac demand is so high that Apple is working to minimize delays in meeting orders, said Curtis Juliber, Apple's Minneapolis-based territory manager.
