News announcer Chris Conangla, whose future was up in the air after KSTP-TV, Channel 5, decided to replace him with Randy Meier as the station's top male anchor, isn't going away. In fact, he just got more airtime.
Starting Sept. 21, the station will expand its midday news program to a full hour, with Conangla and Kalley King as hosts, news director Scott Libin said Thursday. Conangla also will anchor the 5 and 6:30 p.m. broadcasts, starting Tuesday - the day that former WCCO-TV, Channel 4, anchor Colleen Needles takes over the chair at 6 and 10 p.m. with Meier as her partner.
"It's a lot of face time," Conangla said. "My mom will love it."
