In "Rounders," law-school student Mike McDermott (Matt Damon) seems to have the best hand that life could have dealt him. He has a bright future as an attorney and a promising relationship with a devoted girlfriend (model Gretchen Mol in her screen debut). He also has a big-time gambling habit and the rash temperament to bet his life savings on a game of high-stakes poker.
