America's youngest workers would be steered toward private savings plans instead of Social Security under a bill that Sen. Rod Grams plans to introduce today.
And workers of all ages would face stark choices between private investments and the government retirement insurance program that has been in place for six decades. "We're going to get bold here," Grams, R-Minn., said Monday.
Like other proposed plans, Grams' would give most workers the option to stay with traditional Social Security or switch to a private system. And retirees would see no disruption in their pensions.
