At 9:11 p.m. Tuesday, a UFO (OK, it was actually complicated light rigging) descended onto the stage at Target Center and deposited a creature with a cowboy hat by the name of Garth.
Garth Brooks is the biggest creature in the history of country music. Heck, he's sold more records than anyone but the Beatles. But his voice isn't as pretty as Vince Gill's or as true as George Strait's. And his material doesn't measure up to that of Gill or Strait, two of the most revered names in contemporary country music.
Don't let that cowboy hat and Wrangler jeans fool ya, folks. The Oklahoman with the sensible (noncowboy) boots and Madonna-pioneered headset ...
