Article: Real estate sales break annual record; Twin Cities area sets 3rd- straight yearly mark in 10 months.(BUSINESS)

With two months left in the year, Twin Cities-area real estate sales already have set an annual record for the third consecutive time.

Data from the Regional Multiple Listing Service on Friday showed that by the end of October, 46,882 purchase agreements had been signed, an increase of 4,424 from 42,458 in all of 1997. Officials of the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors have said they expect residential sales to hit 51,500 this year.

"It's been an outstanding market," said Sandy Patterson, a director of the association. "Houses are selling in record time and in record dollar volume."
