Melinda Smith and her son Brian, 10, were lone shoppers in rows of balsam firs at the Boy Scouts Trees lot on Lexington Avenue in St. Paul.

"Once we walked in and smelled the Christmas trees, it felt like Christmas," she said Friday.

"Yeah," Brian said. "All we need is snow."
