1/3 Dan Van House was a rock on the ice; a big, physical defenseman who played like a 6-foot-1, 200-pound freight train. Run into him, said his hockey coach at the University of St. Thomas, and he'd flatten you.
He was also a great student, a loyal friend and a team leader. His girlfriend, for goodness sake, was homecoming queen at their high school.
"I can't say enough superlatives about the kid," St. Thomas coach Terry Skrypek said. "If you want to have a kid who epitomizes what you want in a student-athlete, the general person that he is, he's just a great kid. It's kind of a cliche, but I don't think I've ever heard a kid say a bad word about Dan ...
