I rented a movie the other day (I supplied my own popcorn), and as I flipped past the previews of movies that were already history and that I hadn't seen because I didn't want to, I saw something odd enough to make me back up the tape and look at it at normal speed.
It was, as it had seemed to be, a preview of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," but it was a preview announcing that the film was being re-released on videotape. That cleared up the mystery, but it wasn't very exciting news, and I was all set to hit the fast-forward button again, when I was stunned by the information that followed: The re-release "will include a `making-of.' "
