Laurel Miller was waiting in the Elk River ice arena lobby.
"Is Coach Sarsland here yet?" she asked her mother, Tori Miller. The answer was, "Not yet."
A couple of minutes later, Sarsland walked in and Laurel stepped into his path. The young girl reached into her opened pack of Skittles, found a green one and handed it to Tony Sarsland. He thanked Laurel and popped the Skittle into his mouth.
"She gives Tony a green one before every game for good luck," Tori said.
Sarsland is in his 13th season as Elk River High School's hockey coach. Considering the events of the past five weeks, he might need a lucky Skittle the size of the IDS Tower ...
