From the start of her speech, Jane Elliott promised to offend the entire audience.
And she nearly succeeded.
"I'm going to offend everyone in this room in the first five minutes and I don't care," she promised the crowd of about 100 gathered at Augsburg College's Hoversten Chapel in Minneapolis Thursday night. "I am sick of having to do this workshop."
The workshop that Elliott, a 64-year-old former teacher from Riceville, Iowa, was referring to was her "blue eye-brown eye" experiment, which was made famous 30 years ago when she first used it in her third-grade classroom to demonstrate the power of racism.
