Everybody complains about the dearth of good restaurants in the St. Paul suburbs, and finally, somebody is doing something about it. On May 3, Lisa and Brian Bowman, formerly co-owners of St. Paul's 128 Cafe, plan to open Fiddlehead's Bistro at 4750 Hwy. 61 in White Bear Lake (426-6060). Lisa is the owner, husband Brian will be manager and the executive chef will be Jeff Frutiger, formerly sous-chef at Buca in St. Paul and most recently chef at Carlson Companies in Minnetonka.
The menu will be the creation of Kristine Sczcech, former chef at Table of Contents, where the Bowmans once worked. Typical fare will include pastas such as four-cheese ravioli ($7.95) and ...
