It's a good thing buildings can't scream when they're being demolished. I've been watching the workers wreck the Conservatory in downtown Minneapolis, and it looks painful. You wonder if the guy hosing down the building is spraying morphine on the marble, just to keep the shrieks down.
The site resembles a zoo full of robot dinosaurs - a couple of small cranes grazing on the ground, one huge grunting beast with T-Rex jaws ripping the meat from the bones of the building. It grabs a beam, growls, shakes the steel - a shower of shattered glass cascades down the facade, pings off the debris, tinkles on the ground. The jaws let go; gouts of insulation, ventilation ...
