Al Anderson, who shepherded the nation's premier Lutheran publishing business into the forefront of American Christian publishing, and who carefully shaped the nation's largest Lutheran denomination, was a man who loved to tell a story. Usually they were long stories, but always told with a smile and sense of delight at the human condition.
Anderson, 76, died in his sleep at his Edina home Friday night. He apparently suffered a heart attack, said his wife of 44 years, Delores. His doctors had recently declared him free of throat cancer.
