Trucks take twice as long to stop as cars. They need extra road room to maneuver. There are blind spots in the rear, side and front of a truck, and if you can't see a driver's face in the side mirrors, the driver can't see you, either.
Several truck drivers suggested that I review these facts after last week's column about three recent semitrailer truck rollovers, two in the Twin Cities area. The truckers' view is that most truck-car crashes are the fault of motorists who ignore them.
