By winning three Tour de France titles, Greg LeMond earned his reputation as the tour de force of American cycling. His strength and endurance were legendary, and he showed a flair for the dramatic by coming from behind during the last stage of the 1989 Tour de France to win his second title, a performance that won him Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year.
