A Waseca County grand jury will be empaneled June 27 to consider charges in the April 1999 killing of Cally Jo Larson, authorities announced Monday.
The 12-year-old Waseca girl was sexually assaulted and killed shortly after arriving home from school.
No one has been arrested in her death. However, authorities close to the investigation have said that the main suspect is Lorenzo B. Sanchez, 28, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who has lived in Waseca for the past two years.
Sanchez pleaded guilty May 19 to a string of house burglaries in Waseca and was sentenced to four years in prison. He was sent to the high-security Oak Park Heights prison.
