Way back in November, before Thanksgiving came and snow fell, Arizona and North Carolina opened the college basketball season at the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic in Springfield, Mass.
Arizona won that Nov. 22 game 82-73. The teams will meet again at 4:42 p.m. today in the national semifinals at the RCA Dome, but coaches Lute Olson of Arizona (23-9) and Dean Smith of North Carolina (28-6) say they are not the same teams.
"It seems like light years away," Olson said Friday. "Going into that game Dean had a lot of inexperience, we had a lot of inexperience and I'm not sure either one of us knew what to expect."
