For George Olzenak and other outdoors enthusiasts, these are difficult days. Winter is breathing its last gasp and the scent of spring is in the air, but there are major problems.
"This time of year, you can't hunt or fish. It drives you nuts," said Olzenak, 63, of Brooklyn Center.
So how to whittle away the time between seasons? Olzenak and his son, Mark, 37, of Maple Grove, decided it was the perfect time to build new fishing rods. "We hunt and fish together, so we figured why not build rods together?" Mark said as they worked this week on their rods at The Fly Angler in Fridley, which specializes in custom rod building and fly fishing supplies.
