As temperatures rose last month, so did Twin Cities-area residential real estate sales, with slightly more purchase agreements signed than in the same month last year and home prices continuing to increase.
Sales closed - which reflect market activity 45 to 60 days earlier - were off 6.6 percent from a year earlier. But Mark Allen, president of the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors, said Friday that 1997 is on its way to being a very strong year.
Last month, 3,148 sales were closed and 4,779 purchase agreements were signed.
"That's a tremendous number, especially if you keep in mind how far and beyond the norm 1996 went," Allen said. ...
