Saying baseball's owners "don't see any hope" for a new Twins ballpark, interim commissioner Bud Selig announced Thursday that the sport's executive council has directed Twins owner Carl Pohlad to consider all options open to him, including the "exploration of alternative locations" for his team.

Selig, speaking after three days of meetings by owners, said the council's resolution is the first time baseball's ruling body has formally told one of its brethren to consider greener economic pastures.

"We can't sit and let a club sink into a morass of economic failure," he said.
