The Lake Michigan shoreline that separates this town from Manitowoc, about 7 miles to the south, appears today much as it did in 1968, when Dale Schroeder of Two Rivers got himself into the charter boat business.
"I came back from the service that year, and a buddy of mine had a charter boat in Manitowoc. I went out with him a few times, liked it, and started doing it part-time."
The lake was just beginning to heat up as a fishing destination when Schroeder bought his first boat. King (chinook) salmon soon would provide fantasy-level action to thousands of anglers. So, too, coho salmon and trout - lake, rainbow and brown.
