1/3 Sometimes, when an architect gets it right, a building seems to sing. Monona Terrace, the Madison convention center based on a 1938 design by Frank Lloyd Wright, sings in four-part harmony.
The sweeping white concrete confection (it has been called half a wedding cake) is brilliantly sited on Lake Monona, the smaller of Madison's two major lakes, just three blocks from the Wisconsin State Capitol, which is also brilliantly sited: at the apex of the isthmus between the two lakes.
