At the corner of Cedar and Riverside Avenues in Minneapolis there's a store called Global Village. That name could just as well describe the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood.
"Cedar Riverside is probably the most culturally diverse neighborhood in the city of Minneapolis," said Gary Hein, the neighborhood's crime-prevention police officer. "It's really an attractive neighborhood, in terms of its diversity."
Many of the neighborhood's residents are immigrants; others are students from either the University of Minnesota or Augsburg College - both of which are within a mile of Cedar-Riverside.
