The flags peeking above the freeway barrier along Interstate Hwy. 94 in Minneapolis tell you that Augsburg College has a lot of allegiances.
Stars and stripes fly alongside colors of the United Nations and Norway, the latter reflecting the college's founding by Norwegian immigrants in 1869.
The cloth is worn and the history strong, but as the Lutheran institution inaugurates its new president today, it finds itself sifting through traditions and taking stock of where it will be in the 21st century.
A central question, President Bill Frame says, is, "Who are we?"
And, then, who can help pay the bills?
