The past two years have been like Christmas Eve for the new baseball teams in Arizona and Tampa. Today, during the expansion draft, they finally get to open some of the presents.
Or 35.
The teams, which begin play next April, have had a week to study the 15-man protected lists from the 28 other clubs. Today, they will each select 35 players in a draft that begins at 3 p.m. Twin Cities time in Phoenix. Some established major leaguers such as Bret Boone, Sean Berry, Chad Curtis, Tom Pagnozzi and Wally Joyner, could be available.
