Jack Del Rio went to his offseason job with Merrill Lynch on Tuesday in New Orleans. He played racquetball during his lunch break and then learned that his other bullish employer, the Vikings, had officially sent him bouncing on his way.
The Vikings cut Del Rio, their leading tackler in the 1990s, three days before the free-agency shopping season opens Friday.
"It was the world's worst-kept secret, but I'm excited, relieved and looking forward to bigger and better things in '96," said Del Rio, 32.
