You should be able to see the Comet Hyakutake from March 22 to 29 with the naked eye, but it will be better with binoculars or a telescope. Binoculars will let you see the entire comet. Because the comet covers such a large area of the sky, telescopes should be used at their lowest power.
Scientists with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, in Pasadena, offer these tips for getting the best view:
Get as far away from city lights as possible.
Let your eyes get used to the dark; it takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
